when you're alone and life is making you lonely you can always go ......

Time to take Peter on an architectural highlights tour of Palm Springs.

We have already been DEVASTATED to find Liberace's house is being completely remodelled and ALL the classic liberace icons are GONE including the candelabra outdoor lights, the L insignia window grills and the Casa de liberace mosaic tiles - DEVASTATED.

Luckily Elvis's honeymoon house (the space ship looking thing above) is still delightfully in tact.

We spin around the Racquet Club Estates, and then across Palm Canyon to the Old Las Palmas area where people have a lot of $$$$ and FABULOUS vintage homes. (I love those A-line Swiss Miss homes, but Peter was iffy about them quite frankly)

Most houses look like the set for Peter Sellers in "The Party".

We drive up into the hills for a spectacular view down over beautiful Palm Springs and then our caffeine deficit kicks in and it's time to head to koffi.

We lined up to order our coffees behind a FABULOUS million year old woman (a former dancer I would say) who featured the unlikely combination of a zimmer frame and a lacy midriff top! oh happy days.

Our coffees arrived and it was a race between us and the tiny shuffling sexy zimmer lady for the last table in the sunny courtyard. we won, felt guilty and discussed doing the right thing until she found another table and we didn't have to - we are going straight to hell - but it was a VERY good table - and she seemed happy at her lovely table chain smoking with her equally crazed thousand year old girlfriend. god bless palm springs.

We make a pit stop at the supermart as we are having our first DINNER PARTY tonight!!! Our lovely next door neighbours Gene and Joseph are coming to dinner. We also LOVE the crazy old fashioned supermart and peter and I are collecting coupons to win an ipad, and we regularly sit at the table sorting our coupons like a modern day Lucy and Ethel. (I'm Lucy, he's Ethel)

So far we have won a box of baking soda (true). I believe we are WELL on the way to the ipad.

We decide to dine on the lanai and Grant fires up the barbie. We also use the fireplace for the first time. Gene and Joseph are absolutely LOVELY - the best neighbpurs ever and we had a gay old time that started with STEAKS a la Miss Jaqueline Sussan and ended with red velvet cupcakes a la Miss Linda Gerard.

I love it here and I NEVER want to come home.
