The weather is AMAZING so we're into a routine of breakfast out on the lanai, and then getting some pool time. I am trying to swim laps every day - Grant says they don't count because I do them width ways instead of long ways (but I'm up to 6 per day!)
We've already been here two days so it must be time to visit the Wal-Mart! Peter is unconcious on the balinese lounger so Grant and I head to the shopping mecca - I am never buying a single thing in Melbourne ever again -the bargains are blowing my mind! It also has a food part and the food comes in such GIANT packages it makes costco look like the miniature tudor village! Cheese balls in a jar bigger than your head! And bananas are only $1.79 a pound! pinch me!
We head home for a quick costume change and Grant and I are off on a date to see Charles Phoenix's retro slide show at the Mission Inn in Riverside, about an hour away. We LOVED the show - he is hilarious - but Riverside is the discovery of the night - what a beautiful town, and the Mission Inn is an amazing and HUGE original Mission building, and when they say they have over a million christmas light installed - they are NOT kidding.
We have accidentally come on the evening of Riverside's Christmas festival, so they have the main street blocked off with an ice skating rink, horse drawn pumpkin coaches covered in fairy lights trotting about and santa! It's a lovely balmy night and we are in heaven.
We realise we havent eaten so we stop at the Bobs Big Boy about half an hour out of Palm Springs. Grant gives me the lazy eye as soon as we sit down - we are sitting next to Ben Stein!! People are asking for photos and autographs and he is so lovely to everyone. After he leaves our waiter tells us he lives up the hill and dines on the delights of bobs big boy at least twice a week. By the way, Bob Saget lives up there too and he also is a big boy regular. best gossipy waiter EVER.
Grant buys me a bobs big boy bobble head doll and we head for home - another day in paradise!
