We are all up, packed and ready to roll by the crack of 10am for our road trip to VEGAS!
Grant and I want to stop at a crazy diner outside of Joshua Tree for breakfast. Apparently SOMEONE in the back seat had a weet-bix before he left home so just orders a rusk of dry toast while we have our road trip pancakes and coffee. Where the hell are we? It seems every hayseed, parolee and trucker within 20 miles needs pancakes and coffee also. Freaky Friday.
With everyone full of either pancakes or rusks its off to Piioneertown - an abandoned 40's Western movie set -photo ops for days, but it is freezing out there so it is back on the road for driving driving driving ........ and driving.
We are devastated when we drive out of range of our favourite OASIS radio station - the itrip won't work, so we have to listen to the Jeebers station, the country and western station, or rock anthems interspersed with yammering DJ's - oh dear.
Next stop - Peggy Sue's 50's diner out on the highway - GOLD.
After Peggy Sue's we offer to take PAR to see the world's largest thermometer but incredibly he declines. Lucky we can see it from the highway, which is almost as thrilling as being up close.
Finally we make it into Nevada as the sun goes down. I guess the EXACT time we cross the border and am rewarded with the following fabulous prizes:
* two hard smacks
* some mints (that were my own mints)
* a bottle of water (that was my own bottle of water)
* a vague promise of a cupcake
I'm a weiner!
We make a pitstop at the Primm Outlet mall, where Peter buys some kind of a Daniel Boone trapper hat which is absolutely the buy of the day.
We finally see the bright light city and Grant drives directly to Ballys like a homing pigeon.
Vegas baby! woo hoo!
