I never get tired of breakfast out on the lanai. It is heaven in a suntrap out there with an endless view of the san jacinto mountains, the humming birds humming, and our perfect breakfast of granola, bagels, fruit and LOTS of coffee.
The Liberace monstrosity is still kind of uuuuugly, but instead of tearing it down we have decided to glamorise by adding paint, curtains, new light fittings, painted paving and fairy lights -its going to look uber chic ....... one day
Peter is sleeping the day away so Grant and I are off to the garbage sales. Our dream house from last weekend is open again and everything must go so we snap up a cute piece of wall art we have named Bruce, a stack of taschen books, some vintage sci fi movie coasters and a fabulous tiki vase for a STEAL. happy days.
Gene and Joseph have told us about the hardware store the gents prefer to home depot called Tru-Value. oh em gee. It is the MOST glamorous hardware vintagey store EVER, and i see seven things I want in the first millisecond. (but everything is a million dollars) We trawl the store for a while -I have never been to a hardware store that wreaks of pino sylvester and i seem to be the only lady in the store. mmmm.
We head across to the estate sale company. What a shame a stranger named Allen is recently deceased because I feel we would have been design best friends. Every time we see something we love it seems it once belonged to Alllen. Kudos Allen - you had lovely furniture.
We pot about the town, and then it is time to go wake up Peter because tonight is the Christmas Lights Parade!! wheee! Not only is my new best friend, Miss Carol Channing the Grand Marshall, but also Gene and joseph are IN the parade! The Racquet club estates neighbourhood association has its own macys parade balloon in our parade!
I heart the Christmas Lights Parade. We stake out our viewing position between the Shag Store and Modernway on Palm Canyon, and before we know it Miss Carol Channing is whizzing by, followed by the bin men, covered in fairy lights, the local school band, a few zumba afficianados, the dump truck covered in fairy lights, a bulldozer, a few people who have nice cars, the macys balloons, some lost dogs -everyone in town is covered in fairy lights and in the parade -double triple quadruple happy days. I love it!
Gene and Joseph have invited us to dinner at their favourite Italian restaurant afterwards to meet all our neighbours who were in the parade. Peter pikes it, so we head off alone and meet our lovely neighbours. It is a table of fourteen -all lovely boys except for me and a crazy gal named lauren who made red velvet cowboy hats for all the racquet club boys, and somehow got Miss Carol Channing to autograph her knockers! She is hilarious and has invited us to her new years eve party so look out david and Brendon!!
Another kooky day here in 1959. I love it here and i never want to come home.
