Lots of lovely people - and one complete nutter

We have had a lovely week of social engagements - a lovely dinner at the home of our gorgeous gaybours, also attended by our across the road neighbours Kal and Miss Laurie, who, as it turns out, are also lovely.

As many of you know, we once had the most horrible and crazy neighbour in the world when we lived at Richmond, who smashed our christmas gift to him on our doorstep, took to the side of our house with an axe, claiming he thought his cat was in our walls, and decided to cover the yard with stinking blood and bone fertilizer any time he got a whiff of us having an outdoor cocktail party of any kind - not to mention his backward son who lived out the back in the chicken coop like some kind of Boo Radley - HORRIBLE!

Consequently we now CHERISH nice neighbours - we have our lovely gaybours the two davids in sth yarra, not to mention Grant's girlfriend Betty in her little pink house, and now lovely Palm Springs Gaybours Joseph & Gene also - double triple happy days.

We heard about Kal and laurie from the postie last year as Kal is some kind of FAMOUS musician and the postie is a big fan, but I am more excited that Miss Laurie used to be one of Bette Midler's Harlettes. Luckily I am armed with this info before dinner, so when she asks me if I dance professionally, instead of boasting about my extensive Myer Christmas Parade and channel 31 appearance list, not to mention my Preston Arts & Entertainment Centre appearance singing "hey hey Paula" with Ernie Sigley (true), I simply say no.

Have I mentioned i love it here and never want to leave?

Later in the week we head to the fabulous book store on Palm Canyon, aptly titled "Just Fabulous" for one of their weekly celebrity book signings.

My friend Greg in LA has sent us there to meet David Wills and Stephen Schmidt who have compiled a beautiful Marilyn book called "Marilyn Metamorphosis". They are both lovely and very chatty - one is Ausralian, and they both LOVE the racquet club estates houses so we are four chatty cathys and I get a lovely signed book. We decide to hang around because there is a second book signing scheduled for the glamazon and former catwoman Miss julie Newmar.

She arrives in a wet look mini skirt and a giant hat - she is as mad as a cut snake. She looks me in they eye and says "teach yourself by writing to yourself - that's important" "mmmm" I say, silently moonwalking away.

She is, however, GORGEOUS, and TALL. We get a lovely signed book from her also, and one for David & Brendon - perhaps I should have looked inside first - the book is full of pictures of julie posing in white clown makeup and endless crazy julie-isms .... oh .... dear ... me ....
