Miss Jane rocks!

I picked up every one of those freakin rocks in my dry river bed effect - ow my aching back.

Happy Anniversary!

It's our wedding anniversary!

As the Major and Mrs Nelson are not on hand to throw us a shindig, we settle for a bottle of moet and chnadon for breakfast and a fancy schmanzy dinner at Roy's Hawaiian fusion chateau of glamour.

Lovely!

Progress in the Garden

View through the house

(don't mention that freakin RED tulip chair)

The new oven is here!

We did score a fridge, washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, juicer and mixmaster left behind from the previous owners, but tragically, the oven did not work :-(

A new chair!

It matches the Christmas Miracle chair like a dream!

And there are Penny Pingleton and Rusty LaRue on the new Urban Outfitters accordian table.

Well Deserved

Well Hung

The Den

We have painted the vintage wall panelling in the Den and we LOVE it!!

Tragically, I have seen the perfect vintage desk and chair, and danish Modern 2-seater couch I want to put into this room, but cannot afford them AT ALL, so for this year it will be an extra bedroom.

pop Art

we have bought some lovely ART for the dining room.

Marilyn says "Kiss Me, Stupid", and Audrey, I swear says something that looks a lot like "Glamour Puss"!

A stroll down Palm Canyon Drive

- and there's me wetting my pants at my shopping bag full of Jonathon Adler tea towels from the Trina Turk store.

If you ever see Grant actually "using" one of these aforementioned tea towels, you will know that divorce is imminent.

The glass is here!

Still needs patching and painting around the edges -whoever thought I could get so excited about double glazing!

Rex & Roy's revisited

OMG - what a day!
After our delightful day at The Parker we head to an estate sale I have spotted in the vicinity of Rex & Roy's (where we got our SHAG painting) OH MY LORD -It IS at Rex and Roy's - and now that Rex and Roy have moved to Porta Valada, the entire house is opened up with price tags on EVERYTHING (even their decorative crystal penis collection - they seem to have quite a few)

Inside Rex and Roy's place is rock star AMAZING, switching from fabulous to hideous in every doorway. It transpires Roy is some kind of famous interior designer and there are ENDLESS glossy magazines casually opened on the kitchen counter with 4 page spreads on this amazing home. (no pictures of the party room though - a white tile and mirrored bathroom bigger than my living room with two 4 person showers and a gigantic spa with a life sized statue of a naked man in it - good times)

George picks up an art book or two, I bought this mini museum of modern art chair, Carlos bought a few of Roy's cast off fashions (oh happy days), and Grant is still in shock.

PS - Yes, there is a new mini Blythe in the family - santa bought her -and she has her own HORSE!

Carlos' impersonation of John Wayne

priceless!

Waiting for the valet

Can't anybody hear me??
I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!

I want to live here.

exiting through the foyer at The Parker. nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Constitutional

A delightful after brunch stroll through the grounds of the parker. The gardens are GORGEOUS with little secluded areas everywhere with comfy seats and complimentary fruit.

Everybody here looks like a movie star! (including us, I'm sure)

No wonder Robert Downey Jnr came here for an attempted overdose.

Admiring the view

This is a picture of Grant - no, really!

Bernadette!

Bernadette, We need you and your big handbag!

we want to steal ALL the Jonathon Adler linen, crockery and glassware.

I had to sit on my hands not to steal these pepper and salts!

Brunch at The Parker

One of my faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavourite things to do in Palm Springs.I HEART The Parker.

PS - we are stealing this sailed roof idea for our horrible porch thing becomes glamorous cabana project - can. not. wait!

Hitting the Hot Spots

We have been eyeing off this lovely looking terrace restuarant on south Palm Canyon called The Rock Garden, and thought it might be a special treat to go there with George and Carlos. Oh dear .... what. a. dump.

Should I have known when the cheesy lounge singer started singing quando quando quando and shouted "yeah baby" at me when I joined in on the chorus. (I know I was asking for it, but how can you NOT join in when its the musical genius of engelbert humperdink)

should I have known when my webbed chair was missing several straps - or when I realised the "sugar bowl" was someone's old plastic lunch box with scribble all over it .... or when the coffee pot arrived with jurassic black finger prints all over it.

Thank goodness the palm springs chapter of the red hat society were brunching there also, so we could spend our time admiring their requisite purple dress and red hat ensembles instead of our hideous meals.

Onward and upward and we spent a lovely afternoon scouring the estate sale stores, the backstreet art gallery district and of course, the thrift store, where my personal stylist Carlos found me the most amazing pair of black satin diamente encrusted ballroom shoes I have ever seen, not to mention the set of TWELVE finlandia martini glasses for a crazy six dollars. (always good to have twelve - what if i get too drunk to rinse them one night)

George and carlos selected our dinner destination, The River. (best not to let us choose after the brunch disaster) We had to park far away, so a lady drove us from our car to the restaurant in her golf cart! classic!

We browsed through The Borders, and then headed off to dinner which began with an amazing dirty martini with a blue cheese stuffed olive (heaven), and ended in a red velvet cheese cake I am still dreaming about.

All in all, delightful - and tomorrow we are off to The Parker!

Visitors!

George and Carlos are here! Yipeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Send David Helms - STAT!

Pardon?? ... what??

there seems to have been a terrible mistake.....

What?

Bam Bam ... then Pebbles!

and shovelling those over our front yard should only take a minute shouldn't it ... hello .. is this thing on ....

The Pebbles are here!!

twigs

These plants are for the path where "someone" is supposed to have finished picking out the rocks ....

mini barrel cactus (ouch), and some crazy space age succulent that reminds me of something my nana had in her back yard.

Al Fresco

The outdoor chairs have arrived!
Fondue anyone?

And Conrad and jacquelline, we have planted your cactus in this delightfully fanta-esque pot!

PS - notate that tree stump and gilberto are both gone.
